You may know Chef Steven Tran as the winner of Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship, Season 10 or perhaps you’ve tasted his creations during an elegant afternoon tea at the Shangri-La OR maybe this is the very first introduction- in which case, it’s a pleasure to meet you.

Steven’s culinary journey began early, in his family’s kitchen. At just sixteen, he won a local teen culinary competition that awarded him a scholarship to study in Vancouver, BC. While his beginnings were rooted in savoury cooking, everything changed during an internship in the South of France. There, he found himself captivated by the artistry and precision of pastry. Fascinated, he would sneak peeks into the pastry chef’s air-conditioned station, asking endless questions. When he returned to Canada, he enrolled in a pastry program without hesitation
and his path was set.

His career soon took him across the globe. He trained at the two-Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in the UK, at Le Pommier Pâtisserie in Tokyo, and under Meilleur Ouvrier de France Arnaud Larher in Paris. He gained further experience at Daniel Boulud’s restaurant in New York, Maison Wittamer in Brussels, and with Thomas Haas in Vancouver. Each stop added another layer of expertise, inspiration, and finesse to his craft.

When Steven returned to Canada, he made Toronto his home base. While building his own chocolate brand, Steven Tran Chocolates, he also served as Executive Pastry Chef in some of the city’s most prestigious hotels: the Four Seasons, the Fairmont Royal York, and the Shangri-La. His desserts became known not only for their technical precision but also for their playfulness, refinement, and ability to surprise.

In 2024, Steven’s creativity, skill, and composure under pressure earned him the title of Winner of Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship, Season 10. The win helped propel his vision forward: opening a brick-and-mortar home for Steven Tran Pâtissier & Chocolatier- a space where French technique meets global inspiration, and where every bite tells a story of joy, craft, and dedication.
